Lipoprotein Particle Check

50% of people who develop cardiac disease have 'normal' cholesterol. A traditional LDL blood test doesn't measure small dense LDL particles, which can hide behind normal cholesterol and increase the risk of heart attack.

About this test

50% of people who develop cardiac disease have 'normal' cholesterol. A traditional LDL blood test doesn't measure small dense LDL particles, which can hide behind normal cholesterol and increase the risk of heart attack.

What we measure

LIPOPROTEIN PARTICLES

Advanced lipid particle analysis that provides more accurate cardiovascular risk assessment than traditional cholesterol tests.

LDL Particle Number (LDL-P)
The actual number of LDL particles, which is more predictive of cardiovascular risk than LDL cholesterol levels.
Small Dense LDL
Small, dense LDL particles are more atherogenic and increase cardiovascular risk more than large, fluffy particles.
Large Buoyant LDL
Large, buoyant LDL particles are less harmful than small dense particles.
HDL Particle Number (HDL-P)
The number of HDL particles, which may be more important than HDL cholesterol levels for cardiovascular protection.
Large HDL
Large HDL particles are more protective against cardiovascular disease.
VLDL Particle Number
Very low-density lipoprotein particles, associated with increased cardiovascular risk.
Total Particle Number
The total number of all lipoprotein particles, a strong predictor of cardiovascular risk.
Apolipoprotein B
One apoB per LDL particle, providing an accurate count of atherogenic particles.
Apolipoprotein A1
One apoA1 per HDL particle, indicating protective particle count.
ApoB/ApoA1 Ratio
The ratio of atherogenic to protective particles, a strong cardiovascular risk indicator.
LDL Size
Particle size - smaller particles are more dangerous than larger ones.
Lipoprotein(a)
A genetic risk factor for cardiovascular disease that's independent of other lipid markers.
